The Types of Online Dating Fraud
The Internet is truly a powerful and great tool, especially now in the field of romance. It has taken the task of finding a soul mate into a higher level. But while it has increased your chances of finding "the ONE" in capital letters, it has also attracted its share of kooks, frauds, and other scammers. In fact, con artists have also been lured to the attraction of the internet in finding more people to scam and con. Maybe you have been a victim before or maybe you've heard of someone being conned. But whatever the case, you can protect yourself by knowing how these scammers work and how to detect them.
It's hard enough to make and maintain a relationship, but with online dating, you also have to safeguard yourself against online dating fraud, especially in millionaire dating. It always amazes me that some people would actually want to trick an innocent someone. But I guess that there are just some people who are that way. Websites like UK Millionaire Dating, do more than their share to try and protect their members from these potential scammers, but one can never be too careful. Wealthy Singles are a lure that most scammers, frauds, and con artists are unable to stay away from. But hey, you can protect yourself from them, all you need to do is to stay vigilant and watch out for the signs.
Right, there is more than just one type of online dating fraud, but all of them involve money and people far away.
1. The Money Orders Scam. Okay, for this type of scammers, they claim to be working in some far-flung places where they are paid in money order. You meet them online, usually in chat rooms or dating sites. Now, what they do is that they ask you to cash their money orders. So they deposit their money orders in your bank, then you send them cash. A few days or weeks later, you find out that the money orders were forgeries and that you're responsible for the total. And of course, your mystery date, mysteriously vanishes.
2. The I-Need-Money-For-My-Visa Scam. Again, you meet someone online, from far-flung places in the world. They seem to be nice and legitimate. After some time, they say that they want to visit you, but they need money for their visas. Of course, being the great person that you are, you send it. But after that, they ask for more money for more requirements for getting a visa, so you send money again. Eventually, more and more "unavoidable circumstances" arise that need more money from you. Eventually, they stop communicating with you, leaving you lost, broken-hearted, and a few hundred of dollars poorer.
Now, sad to say, there are more than a few websites who are less conscientious than UK Millionaire Dating. Wealthy singles get hacked off by these websites by putting up fake profiles. Oh, you may contact them and yes, you will receive an email, but the relationship doesn't progress any further than that. Those empty profiles exist just to make the site look bigger than it really is. Now, a few days before your subscription expires, you might receive emails from people who are interested in you. But watch out, it's just a ploy to entice you to renew your subscription.
But don't let these few people darken your fun in online dating! By any means, true and honest people who are looking for love are out there waiting for you. And if one of them is really the one for you, then, do not be scared of creating a deeper and more meaningful relationship with them. I mean, graft and corruption exists everywhere, but that did not stop countries and economies to progress, right?
